The Gun Law That Disarms Millions Each Year

It is amicus brief time again at the Supreme Court, this time in the matter of United States v. Hemani, a challenge to 18 USC 922(g)(3) the Federal prohibition on those that use controlled substances from possessing firearms. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses the excellent brief filed by NAGR that truly boils this issue down to its most basic point. If we as a country have dealt with issues of substance abuse for centuries one way, but only recently decided to start categorically disarming those same people, then do we really have a historic tradition of firearms regulations along those lines? That is the exact issue before SCOTUS, it’s not about Hemani, it’s not about who Hemani is, it’s about staying true to the historical principles that delineate the outer edges of our rights. So learn more today and arm yourself with education.
