Can I Buy a Banned Weapon Out of State and Bring It Home?

Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, answers one of the most common questions that we’ve been fielding lately, all brought on by new laws passed in several states, which is can they go to another state, buy a weapon banned by their state, and bring it home? While there likely is state law that precludes that, what most people don’t know is that Federal Law, which governs the FFL industry will make this virtually impossible for any of the firearms that you might want to travel out of state to obtain. So learn what all of this truly means and arm yourself with education today.

Applicable Statute:
18 U.S.C. Sec. 922(b)(3). https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/922
